A home energy assessment shows how efficient your home currently is and what you can do to improve it. To get an assessment, an accredited assessor will visit your home to evaluate its construction and energy use. They then provide you with a home energy rating along with upgrade guidance to:

• Reduce your energy bills
• Make your home warmer in winter
• Make your home cooler in summer

The assessor will also help you prioritise home energy upgrades that you could make, including:

This program supports the introduction of home energy ratings in NSW by providing a home energy rating subsidy to eligible NSW households. This program will help collect important feedback and insights that will be used to inform a larger rollout of home energy ratings in NSW. 

This program is funded by the NSW Government. ZapCat has been engaged to manage this project, including connecting assessors with customers and processing subsidy payments.

By participating in this program, you will:

• Get $330 off a Home Energy Rating Certificate which is valid for 10 years.
• Find out how to reduce your energy bills and improve the comfort of your home by making it warmer in winter and cooler in summer.
• Be better prepared for the future by understanding your home’s rating which may need to be disclosed to potential buyers and renters.
• Contribute to improving the program by providing feedback to the NSW Government.

1. We match you with an accredited assessor who services your area.
2. The assessor completes an onsite home energy assessment and provides you with a Home Energy Rating Certificate.
3. You pay a flat fee for the assessment, minus the subsidy.
4. You complete a feedback survey.

Please note there are a limited number of places available in the program.

The assessment costs between $578 and $688 including GST depending on the size of your property and your location.

You pay between $248 and $358 including GST, and the NSW Government pays the remaining $330 includig GST.

To participate in the program, you must:

• Own your property
• Live in NSW
• Be willing to complete feedback surveys

After the assessment you will receive a Home Energy Rating Certificate, similar to the one below. Your Certificate includes two numbers: 

1. Home Energy Rating (in green) which considers your home’s energy use and a 
2.  Star Rating (in blue) which considers how your home is constructed. 

The certificate also includes information on the comfort of your home, energy use of your appliances and guidance on upgrades to improve your ratings

Your certificate is valid for 10 years as detailed in the Australian Government’s Disclosure Framework unless you make changes to your property.
