Who is collecting your information
Your personal information is being collected by Zap Cat Pty Ltd (ZapCat).
What information we collect
We collect the following personal information:
- Name
- Address
- Email address
- Phone number
- Electricity retailer
- National Meter Identifier (NMI)
- Household electricity usage data (including volume and patterns of use)
We may also collect general information about your household and energy usage (e.g. dwelling type, appliance use, and eligibility characteristics such as concession status). While this information is not sensitive, in combination it may relate to you.
How we collect your information
We collect personal information:
- Directly from you when you enter your details into the ZapCat app
- Indirectly from your electricity retailer via Fiskil, after you provide consent under the Consumer Data Right
You can withdraw your consent to share energy data at any time through Fiskil.
Why we collect your information
We collect your personal information to:
- analyse your electricity usage and current plan
- identify alternative electricity plans that may reduce your costs
- provide you with recommendations and support to switch plans
- deliver energy advice and program services
Who we may disclose your information to
We may disclose your personal information to:
- Zoho as our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform
- Fiskil under the Consumer Data Right to collect data from your electricity retailer
- your electricity retailer (as part of plan comparison and switching support)
- City of Melbourne, if you consent, for the purpose of program evaluation
We do not disclose your personal information overseas. All data is stored in Australia.
Consequences of not providing information
If you do not provide the requested personal information, or do not consent to the collection of your energy data, we may not be able to:
- analyse your electricity usage
- provide tailored plan comparisons
- assist you to switch energy plans
Use of your information for evaluation
With your consent, your contact details may be shared with the City of Melbourne so they can contact you to seek feedback about your experience with the program. This helps evaluate and improve the program.
Access and correction
You can request access to, or correction of, your personal information by contacting ZapCat using the details in our privacy policy.

Data retention
Your personal information is retained:
- for up to 12 months for energy data collected via Fiskil
- for up to 5 years for other personal information collected by ZapCat
After this time, it is securely deleted or de-identified.
